Oh New York City, I Love you. I always meet people in the oddest scenarios...

About a week ago... I had the pleasure of meeting Rome. A talented young spirit. His designs are pretty awesome and definitely fit the NubiasNonsense aesthetic: Fun, playful, hip, happening. We met for a brief moment but the following weekend linked up at Union Square park to talk about some stuff.

For those of you who aren't familiar with ROMEiNGPANDA, you might have seen Katy Perry wear his rings at her album release party or you might have seen his bracelets going down the Victoria Secret runway. Rome and I talked about life, business and the future of his line and fashion in general.

Below please find some quirky facts he wanted to share with NN readers.

NN: Why the name ROMEiNGPANDA?

RP: The name is a simple wordplay of my name "Rome" and one of my favorite animals, Panda's. I've spent much of my life "Roaming" while eating tons of candies and the foundation/theme behind the brand is of german candy, Gummi Bears. Gummies are "Bears", Panda's are "Bears" and I wasn't going to call it RomeingGummies. "RomeingPanda" came to mind instantly, just thought it worked, and everyone like it so it was history from there.

NN: What inspired you to use gummy bears?

RP: Were they you're favorite candy growing up? I mean, why would you not use gummi bears as bling? But the idea started as a joke- just wanted to wear my own designs for a change; and crafting while eating many packs of gummies creates magic. People loved my first creations and the rise of the gummi empire began.
Yes gummi bears are in my top 5 list of favorite candies growing up, HARIBO gummi bears to be exact; I actually like any candy that's gummi. Welches fruits snacks are yummi. But I honestly eat tons of candy all the time, more than real food.

NN: Your gummy bears look so real, have you ever had a client try to eat them? What are they made out of?

RP: Yup, that's the stuff, wearable art! Well I don't know if anyone has ever tried to eat them, but people always "like" to ask "can I eat them?". All of RomeingPanda's current jewelry is primarily constructed out of Lucite.

NN: What kind of people do you see wearing RomeingPanda? What's your target audience?

RP: I see everyone wearing RomeingPanda! Panda's are pretty awesome and who doesn't Love gummi bears?? My target audience is the world.

NN: What other sort of projects will RomeingPanda be involved with that you can share? You know sharing is caring.

RP: For starters an official RomeingPanda Re-Launch coming soon- followed by everything from Apparel, Art, Candy, Toys, and a Cartoon. Pretty much RomeingPanda Everything. Please Stay Tuned!

(this Photo taken by Nikko La Mere Photography)

NN: If RomeingPanda could speak, what would it say to you?

RP: I do speak! Snarf, Snarf...

NN: If RomeingPanda had a clique, Who would be in his Posse? (characters)

RP: There actually is a clique, called PANDA Pack, which consists of:
ROME, The Roaming PANDA
Pearly, The Red PANDA
Mander, The Princess PANDA
Bubbles, The PANDA Dog
Catch them in an upcoming RomeingPanda film coming to a screen near you!

Rome's stuff is seriously dope and it's lines like his that give me that Japanese vibe I so undeniably adore. Show some love and visit his webstore here.

What do you think about ROMEiNGPANDA?

HOLY shizzle Batman! It's like the best of both worlds.

Those of you that know me or have read my blog for long enough, should know the following:

  • I am girly.
  • I like barbie (hence the Uniqlo shirt and probably other costumes/looks I've had)
  • I love pop art, comics, Tokidoki

Hence the excitement when I saw this Tokidoki collaboration with Barbie. Unfortunately it sold out in a heartbeat #wompwomp but I'm sure our paths will cross one day.

Everything Tokidoki touches to me is rather magical. From make-up to clothing to cars... what can I say? I'm a fan.

I am totally smitten over her tattoos. LOVE THEM. I always enjoyed seeing the feminine/urban look Tokidoki uses on mostly everything they do. It's pretty much my aesthetic for NubiasNonsense.

Those of you who know me would also know that I would wear this outfit in a heartbeat ha ha. I can literally close my eyes and see myself in it. I suppose I can always dress Bambi in a cactus costume. The Leopard pants are hot sex.

Have to run! Do you love it? Thoughts? Comments?

Hello there,

This weekend went by way too fast for me. It's hard to keep a balance between work and play... But believe me... I work more ha ha I swear! I just gave myself 3 goals for the next few months and I AM GOING TO DO THEM. Can't knock the hustle.

These photos were taken Saturday. I was hanging out with my friend Mary and we decided to pass by our friend's trunk show. Our friend Shez owns a fancy boutique in Jersey City named DEEN boutique. It has a nice array of clothing and accessories. You'll be seeing more of that in a later post.

Dressing up has been rather interesting these days. I'm still trying to hold on to showing my legs as much as possible, but fact of the matter is that's it's chilly! must hold on to these days while they last.

I would say this has been my Fall uniform for now: A biker jacket, combat boots, and a dress or denim with a hat. It's fashionable, trendy, and comfortable. Why not?

All in all it was a fun night!

Wearing: Breckelles boots, Betsey Johnson dress, Triple 5 Soul messanger bag, H&M pleather motor jacket, H&M gray cardigan, Misc skully

This Betsey Johnson dress is such a joy to be in! It's green leopard print and the top is sheer. I have to wear it on another occasion so you can get a better view of the silhouette.

...Dazed...

Biffle Bug. She gets many random horrible phone calls from me at 3 in the morning and answers. That's what friends are for. She keeps me some-what sane in this mess of a life.

I'm a pretty social smoker to be quite honest... Do yourself a favor and don't do it at all... seriously.

It wouldn't be a night without bubbly.

Kiss, Kiss

Wow, so yesterday I saw the Rihanna "We Found Love" video and was completely taken by it on all aspects. It's a story about how love is like a drug... It's an addiction. It starts with love, then obsession, then violence and then when you finally try to part ways with your lover, you go through withdrawals from the love you once had like a drug addict. At the end of the video Rihanna leaves her love but ends up curled up in a ball herself... It's a tragic tale. Rihanna starts the video with an English accent saying the following

"It's like you're screaming and no one can hear. You almost feel ashamed that someone could be that important that without them, you feel like nothing. No one will ever understand how much it hurts. You feel hopeless, like nothing can save you. Then when it's over, and it's gone, you almost wish you could have all that bad stuff back, so that you could have the good."

Some serious deep thoughts right there. This video reminds me A LOT of an old Heath Ledger and Abbie Cornish's film in 2006 "Candy" Another crazy relationship that came to a tragic end.

Photo via

So the real question is.... When is loving someone too much unhealthy? Or is there even such a thing as "healthy" love? I think this is one of Rihanna's best videos yet. Everyone is commenting about how it's her story with Chris Brown, especially since there is a scene in the video where they fought in a car BUT, It's also her realest video in my opinion. All her prior videos have been hot and sexy but this is a story many people can relate to like.... Herself.

Fashion:
Rihanna wears a whole lot of denim here. I am digging it! I'm a long time denim lover (I wear denim jackets and vest frequently). It's very much my style... as a matter of fact, denim is an essential part of my wardrobe. Urban, stylish and chill. It's an extremely attainable look. I've created a collage for you below for some inspiration.

We Found Love In a Hopeless Place

Finally, Enjoy the video below. The drugs are used as a reference to the danger/trial and tribulations of love... So chill out a bit before you judge too harshly! It's a comparison.

What do you think of this? Can you relate or do you think it's total crap? Let me know! Also, if you share enough of your thoughts... Perhaps I'll share mine (muahaha).

New York Comic Con is officially over! It's funny because I feel similar to the way I do with New York Fashion Week. Every time these conventions/shows are about to pop up I get so overly anxious and excited, then the feeling that proceeds is usually along the lines of "I can't wait for this $#@%*! to be over." It's a love and hate thing... like most events in my life.

I still have a few things about NYCC I want to blog about that I thought you might find interesting. However, as a Sunday night post I wanted to show you my last 2 outfits.

Day 3: Emma Frost from X- Men "The White Queen"

I like Emma Frost because she's both good and bad. She looks ravishing but don't let that fool you. She's sweet but has a dark side... Reminds me a bit of... myself.

Her power is that she can read minds and it allows her to manipulate those around her as she pleases.

Day 4: Japanese Inspired
(Harajuku)

This outfit was inspired by the street style I've seen in magazines and street style blogs from Japan. Harajuku fashion is so loud, playful and expressive. I had a lot of fun putting this together.

Coincidentally enough, the romper I am wearing and ruffled shirt were a gift from my brothers Japanese girlfriend. KAWAII!

Within the last 2 days I was asked about 4 times if I wanted to model swimwear hahaha I thought it was random. I guess it makes sense though. Not something I want to do right now but perhaps after a few more work out sessions, why not? It'll be on my things to consider list. I've been working very hard lately and I am proud of myself... It feels hella good.

During this week, along with some regular outfit post....

Sneak Peek: look forward to reading about my encounter with beloved animator Bill Plympton and a panel about Women in The Comic Book Industry. You won't want to miss that post. A lot of woman power and motivating words!

Thanks for reading! Hope you all had a lovely weekend!

NY Comic Con Day 2

What I Wore:
Let's just say I was Ms. Captain America. Tomorrow I will be wearing a FULL ON Costume but the Captain America was my way to "mini" cosplay.

Day 1 was interesting but day 2 was even better. More people walking around. It was a busy day with endless activities to check out. Next year I will absolutely, without a doubt need help, probably an intern. There's way too much going on, I can't do it alone anymore... There's too much I want to show you all!

One of the highlights of my day was going to a panel for The Seekers a new series by MTV and Stan Lee. I always enjoy seeing Stan Lee. He's so wise and bad ass. He was born and raised in NY and I could definitely tell ha ha. He loves to pick on people. It's mean and funny at the same time. He's 88 C'mon! Anyway, The Seekers is said to be promising so I will be picking it up.

My friend Pam above as LeeLoo from The Fifth Element with Scott Adsit from 30 Rock.

Below please enjoy a variety of photos I took throughout the day.

Love this!

Scorpion and Ezio

Alien Ballerina

Stunning

Always a full house

Oh sure, why not hang out in the Anime Room and have some beer... Sounds sweet. Seriously.

Silent Hill nurses. Creepy.

Sure Batman is the knight but these kids stole the show.

Kawaii!

I have pink wig envy

Can't wait to watch the new season of The Walking Dead tomorrow night!

Crazy right!? Fun stuff! I've already gotten so much inspiration and even ideas for new content for my blog in the near future.
