Hello Nubians,

I was so excited to have been a part of OCRF’s first-ever Super Saturday Vegas-Style! The event took place September 19-20th and it was a great success. For those of you who aren't familiar, OCRF’s Super Saturday is a shopping event held to benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. All the events happened between 2 different locations, the wonderful Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian, The Palazzo and Fashion Show Mall Las Vegas!

The event was hosted by one of my favorite stylist who also happens to be a designer, editor and author Rachel Zoe and her husband Rodger Berman. There was a VIP brunch at Barneys New York, and tons of special shopping activities where a percentage of sales from participating retailers and dining establishments was being donated to OCRF. What's better than shopping and eating for a great cause right? TREAT YO SELF.

My day started out by passing by Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian and picking up a copy of "Living in Style: Inspiration and Advice for Everyday Glamour" written by Rachel Zoe. After that, I got the book signed by her which was pretty excited. She seemed really sweet and complimented my hair while she was signing my book.

I eventually headed to Fashion Show Mall with my friend Jasmin who is the face behind Vintage Vandalizm and we watched the runway show presented by Saks Fifth Avenue together. It opened up with Rachel Zoe and her husband Rodger Berman walking down the runway with their adorable children. Shortly after a few models strutted down the runway rocking some beautiful Fall Fashion.

I had a very lovely time and was happy to participate in a shopping event for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.

Last week I woke up at the wee hours of the morning and went to an event for Uncommon Goods Holiday (#UGHoliday). I was invited by @BoldBraveFree who had been reading my blog for a while and we decided to meet in person at the event.

I picked up a Grande ice coffee with soy, no sugar and was on my way.

Above you'll find a lot of custom jewelry and accessories. If you have a place that's special to you and you know the geographic coordinates you can have it engraved on a necklace or a keychain. There are so many options given to you to make sure the piece you purchase is special and has meaning to you.

The electronic section is where I fell in LOVE (being a social media manager and tech guru of course). The type writer with the iPad attached is HIGH on my wish-list. At first I thought it was just a charger but actually it's way more. When you type on the type writer it appears on the iPad screen, GENIUS. Combining the old and the new. There was also cute little stickers to put on your iPhone charger along with some other gadgets.
Here we have some stuff for those who enjoy drinking. A cool bag to carry a 6 pack on your bike, a how to brew your own beer kit and wine/beer soaps and more.
The botanical section was fun with these vibrant dinosaurs and awesome terrariums. The terrariums can be custom made as well which I think makes for a bad ass gift. You can tell people over at Uncommon Goods what kind of people you want inside and they'll get it done for you. Ex: The elder couple sitting on the bench would make a fantastic anniversary gift.

I had such a great time and was treated nicely by the staff over at Uncommon Goods... They gave me the grand tour and went over almost every little thing in the store with me. The store is full of great treasures and one of a kind gifts.

I received a lovely gift bag on my way out with bracelets, story cards, a puzzle, beer soap and more. So much rad goodies. One of my favorites and one of the funniest is the bathroom guest book full of funny and random things for your guest to answer.

Last week I was invited to the French Connection store on West Broadway for their Spring Nail Art Event featuring Ginger + Liz. There was bubbly going around and 25% off clothing.

To be honest I haven't been to French Connection in a long time so I wasn't very familiar with their current collection. I used to love rocking the tees with their signature FCUK logo once upon a time. As I strolled around the store I was quite pleased. The clothing was a little more grown and mature than I remember it being which was awesome because it caters to my taste now.

In the photo above you see some details I was fond of. So much patterns and glitz and sequins... it was HEAVENLY. My favorite dress in the whole store was the one on the lower right hand of this collage, It's short light pink with sequins and sexy as hell!! A++ in my book. The dress on the upper left hand side draws me in a bit as well because it sort of reminds me of how the NYC streets look (gravel) in a good way.
The sweater with the parrots was super cute and I was diggin the pink tones all over the store. There was definitely a lot of covetable pieces... For a social media wiz kid as myself there was even accessories for my gadgets! Always a perk.
The shoes on the lower left side are my favorite in the store. The chunky heel makes them look very comfortable and I could picture myself rocking them with some short denim shorts and a cute blouse. I'm also digging the flatforms... YES I do like flatforms haha do you?
Peep this lovely PR gal above rocking this bad ass top. It almost looks like paint chips or a piece I could imagine David Bowie wearing. Such an "it" piece.
Lastly while I was strolling around I was treated to this sweet manicure with Ginger + Liz polish. It was based off one of the prints from the collection, Tres chic!

At the end I had a lovely time and I'm looking forward to seeing more French Collection soon and owning some pieces. Cheers darlings!

Hello Nubians,

Though my prom days are far behind me, I thought it was important to talk about a prom dress. Last week I was invited to the Prom Girls "Twitter and Tiaras" event at Dylan's Candy Bar. It was like candy and glitter exploded in a room, a rad time indeed.  

When I was in high school I almost didn't go to prom at all. I was the rebel child, I'm sure many of you can relate. I had a very fuck this! I don't care attitude about the whole extravaganza. But I did go. I just didn't really care how I looked so much. I picked up a little black strapless dress with a little lace and called it a day... It was a very Audrey Hepburn moment... black dress, pearls, white gloves, POW I'm done. Though I don't regret my look THAT much (I did say it was Audrey Hepburn inspired, Duh!) Sometimes I wish I would have chose a more extravagant sparkly, glittery, all up in your face dress like the pretty ones below.
 

Anyway, lets talk about this kick-ass event. There was a DIY station hosted by the ever so talented Grace Atwood and a bunch of bloggers were making hair combs and headbands. All easy and fun pieces you can rock to an event like prom.




That's all I have to say about this for now folks. Perhaps I shall return with some fun prom ideas for my younger readers. Till now, you can check out some pretty dresses over here.

Last week Lucky Magazine invited me to attend a party they were having at The Standard Hotel and I had an awesome time. It was nice to bump into some people after New York Fashion Week and actually be able to stop them for 5-10 minutes and catch up.

TresemmÉ hair styles, A D.I.Y. station hosted by Grace Atwood, Minx manicures designed by Elizabeth Monson, Cocktails, Music and tasty snacks #POW. The funny thing is, and this may sound strange coming from a style bloggers mouth BUT I consider it a successful night when I don't have to talk too much about blogging and what brands I'm working with etc... I rather talk more about creative ventures... future plans... etc. I was able to find pleasant conversation with a few people at the Lucky event so that was cool. There's just way too much (and excuse my french) FUCKERY going on in the blogosphere lately... but that's another topic I might touch on soon...Perhaps... I'm debating. 

La semana pasada la revista Lucky me invitó asistir a un evento en el hotel Standard, Nueva York.   Tuve un tiempo bien agradable. Vi algunas amistades que no he visto en mucho tiempo y pude hablar un poco con ellos sobre trabajo, el futuro y las maravillas de la vida.

The gift bag we received on our way out had a current issue of Lucky Magazine but what got me more excited was The Ultimate Style Guide!!! I saw some cool stuff in there I may be blogging about. It also included TresemmÉ split remedy (which i can sure as hell use) and a cute makeup bag.

Punch Drunk Fashion? Fashion, Violence and Drinks? Say what? Don't mind me. Anywho...

My lovely friends over at SmallGirls were hosting the launch of the ReFashioner site. It was a boxing/fashion event... Yeah so you could imagine my curiosity to check it out.  I went with my friend Debie and we had an awesome time. We enjoyed some drinks, boxing, and glam girls getting down in the ring.

ReFashioner started out as a clothing swap site but is now offering consignment. "Couture, vintage, sustainability and fash fun". The site is pretty, I like websites that are easy on the eyes... Maybe it's because I work in social media and it makes it a WAY more enjoyable experience for me. DAMN YOU TO HELL messy websites/stores. Anywho, Check out Refashioner's sweet page HERE.

My friend Tineey is working with Duane Reade as a VIP Blogger and they hosted an event at their Flag Ship Store that I attended. It was a lot of fun and Duane Reade has grown incredibly from a few years back (I heard they even have beer on tap now!? #SayWhat). The LOOK boutique is a pretty kick-ass makeup and nails section that you could get lost wandering in.

This is how Le Freddy Kruger chic is done as my pal Le City Kitty said, I couldn't agree more. Nightmare on Elm Street was always a favorite childhood movie of mine, this might have been a subconscious decision.



Tuesday Night I went to support my big bloggy sister Amy Chandra from Midtown Girl on her second Socialista New York event at Kibo Lounge. The event was sponsored by OpenSky  and the ladies from Shopafrolic had an accessories table set up where we could model the items and have some photoshoot fun. 



Tineey, Amy and myself. I was sipping on the Socialista cocktails all night. According to Amy "It taste like rose water or something sexy" haha. All I remember is it had Vodka....and well.... It tasted sexy.



There was delicious appetizers flowing around all night. Big kudos to Kibo Lounge, it was all seriously tasty and trust me I'm picky.









I had a great time mingling, catching up with people, and taking photos. I look forward to what the next SocialistaNY event will be like. I'm sure Amy has an ace up her sleeve.
