Hey Nubians,

Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body. -Joseph Addison

We can all use a little fitness in our lives this time of year. I'm sure I'm am far from being the only one who feels like they put on a few extra pounds during the holiday season, it's so stressful! Shopping for others already gives me enough anxiety. Then calculate all the holiday cookies everyone mails out, the mixers with wine and fancy delicious drinks jam packed with calories, the eggnog, family recipes... you see where I'm going with this? Sometimes we don't have enough time for an intense workout but we can all find a few minutes to spare in our day. I'm happy to share this 6 minute ab workout Puerto Rican personal trainer Idalis Velazquez curated to help you get the six pack you've been coveting.

You can do these workouts pretty much anywhere. All you need to begin the workout is a mat, a fun - upbeat playlist and I recommend a reliable antiperspirant such as Degree which offers long-lasting wetness and odor protection with its body-responsive technology.

Enjoy your holidays and stay fit my friends. Cheers!

Hey Nubians,

If you're looking for a tasty and visually pleasing place to eat not too far off The Strip in Las Vegas you should check out Brio Tuscan Grille located in Town Squre.

I passed by the other day and had the Grilled Salmon Salad which was absolutely delish! Mouth watering even! I'm picky when it comes too eating salmon in restaurants but it was cooked to perfection. Not too over cooked, not too undercooked. The Salad is topped with shoestring potatoes which I found interesting and gave the whole salad a nice crunch. The salad also has mixed greens, Roma tomatoes, asparagus, feta and balsamic vinaigrette.

Here you have it!

I topped of the meal with a nice ice cold Peroni Beer. If you're not aware, It's already very hot in Las Vegas and for me... a nice ice cold beer on a hot day is THE BEST THING EVER.

At first the Peroni on tap was a bit warm and I told my waiter. The beer was quickly replaced with a nice ice cold one and they were very apologetic and nice about it. That showed me that they care about me having a nice experience and I did.

I always heard good things about BRIO so I'm glad I went to check it out. A few other perks besides the food is that it's located in Town Square so after you eat you can do tons of shopping after, always fun! BRIO also has other cool deals like Martini Wednesday's at the bar and a fun happy hour.

I'm planning to go back again soon and would recommend it to a friend.

Hello Nubians!

Lately I've been trying to be on a health kick when it comes to my food, however I do suffer from a sweet tooth and a sincere love of wine.

I visited my local Smith's Food store and visited the "healthy" aisle and purchased a Chocolove 55% Dark Chocolate with Almonds & Sea Salt Bar. I figured I would eat a little piece every time I enjoyed some wine as a guilty pleasure. What I really love about each of these chocolate bars is they have a love poem inside. I wanted to share it with you all.

Let me just tell you one thing my fair ladies, besides enjoying the poem... it taste even better with some Merlot on the side. Cheers!

Hey Nubians!

Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live.
-Jim Rohn

Recently I've been trying to lose a little bit of weight (maybe 5 lbs or so) and get fit without totally hating my life... By that, I mean still having yummy snacks that aren't horribly unhealthy.

Today I went on a light food shopping trip and wanted to share with you guys some of my picks. Stuff I've been snacking on that can still keep your eating habits enjoyable.

My Yummy Snacks List.

  • Fit and Active Pumpkin Pie Yogurt: Um, HELLO it's Fall. Pumpkin mania is everywhere... As much as I'd love to just drink pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks all day, even the tall one has 380 calories! This yogurt if yummy and has under 100 calories and only cost .39 cents!
  • Kefir: Such a amazing probiotic with beneficial bacteria and available in yummy flavors. It's also quite filling and lowfat.
  • Fiber Now: These bars are yummy and are low in calories. We also know that fiber is very good for the body. Plus, Peanut Butter? Nom, Nom!
  • Multigrain Chips: Anything multigrain is pretty good when trying to stay healthy and chips are always a fun snack.
  • Garlic Hummus: I'm a big hummus fan and garlic does wonders for your body... As a matter of fact some people consider it one of the worlds healthiest food. From curing colds, to acne, to helping your hair grow longer, it's pretty amazing. Also, I'm def going to be dipping my multigrain chips in this hummus.
  • Baby Carrots: They're good for weight management and also are a good source of fiber.

Those were my purchases for today. Slowly trying to change my eating habits towards being healthier so I'll be happy about my body and health as I grow older.

What healthy snacks do you love to eat?
