Hello Nubians,

"I love the feeling of the fresh air on my face and the wind blowing through my hair."  -Evel Knievel

Today on the blog I wanted to make a quick and simple video tutorial. A lot of times we want a minimal yet beautiful hairstyle and our mind draws a blank. I started out with straight hair and ended up with this look in just a few minutes. Gorgeous waves and a fishtail braid on each side holding my hair slightly back. I think it's a classic hairstyle almost anyone can put together.

What You'll Need.
*Small hair rubberbands.
*Bobby  pins
*A straightening iron. ( I used my Amika one)
*Hair spray. (I used TRESemmé extra hold hairspray)

Watch my YouTube video tutorial below and make sure to thumbs up and subscribe to my channel HERE to see more fun tutorials and vlogs coming soon.

I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and it was easy to follow. Cheers my pretties!

Cheers!

Hello My Beautiful Nubian Queens and Kings!

Hairstyle can very much make or break an outfit sometimes... seriously, have you ever noticed that? If you have an a gorgeous outfit but your hair looks BLAH, none of your photos will come out looking good I guarantee it! Nice cool hair is absolutely something you should always keep up with.

During Spring/Summer braids seem to be quite the lifestyle. For the most part braiding is easy and if you don't know have to make a specific braid, you can view one of the thousand tutorials up on YouTube (sheesh even I have some HERE). Also, a lot of braids can add cool texture to your hair and quite frankly they're just very fun!

Below see some photos for your viewing pleasure and inspiration of some of my favorite braids for this season.

Cage Herringbone Braid.

As seen in the Suno Spring 2015 collection at New York Fashion Week, here you have the Cage Herringbone braid. It looks like an exaggerated fishtail braid and is elegant and beautiful. Photo via.

Milkmade Braid.

The Milkmaid braid never seems to go out of style for me. I find it very flattering towards most face shapes and you can stick in a few flowers in your hair to make it look like a crown, divine! Photo via.

The Low Bun Braid

Incorporating a braid on top of a bun or around a bun is definitely a stand out hairstyle and fairly simple to achieve. The looks very gracious styled while wearing a dress for an event or gala. Photo via.

Messy French Braid.

I find messy braids to be very sexy! This messy french braid can easily be achieved by grabbing more ad more hair as you braid. Also *tip* Any braid that you know how you do will look a lot more edgy if you just mess it up a bit and make it look a little crazy. Photo via.

The Fishtail Braid

The fishtail braid is one of my favorites because you can play around with it so much to make it look different and it's sooooo easy to do. I love how in the photo above its fishtail/pigtails, very cute and dainty. I would say the fishtail is almost as easy to do as a traditional 3 strand braid for me. Photo via.

Anyways kiddies, I hope these photos inspired you to go out there and achieve some cool braid hair styles of your own. Trust me, don't get intimidated! It looks a lot harder than it really is sometimes.

Which one of these is your favorite?

Cheers!

Hello Nubians,

"Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step." -Martin Luther King, Jr.

As some of you may know, I'm living in the West Coast for a while in Las Vegas. It was a fun move and I'm excited for the new business ventures and possibilities that have been coming my way. I was born and raised in NY and I think a big mistake people make in their lives is getting too comfortable! Moving could be scary but sometimes you have to take a leap of faith.

The last few days besides getting work done, I've been walking around and getting to know the town a bit.

I wanted to be comfortable but look cute (duh). Above I'm wearing a pair of Levi Jeans paired with cute little bow flats from Express clothing. I picked the top up at a random boutique and I don't recall the name right now but how rad is it?! I have a thing for lion, tigers, and cheetahs on clothing, the fact that it's colorful makes me enjoy it even more.

I styled my hair in a fancy little side braid because it's hot as hell out here and it's easy to put together... there's a lot of elegance in a braid.

I was starving the other day and bumped into Earl of Sandwich which I used to love to eat in connecticut. I'm not sure what I enjoy more, the sandwich or the golden wrapper. Presentation is everything.

I received this girl in the mail a few days ago. Love this Mint Julep Lip Butter by the Soap and Paper Factory. When you open it up there's a little mirror inside. It makes my lips feel so soft and moisturized so it def comes in handy with the heat here. A bonus to the lip butter is that I love the packaging as well! I mean seriously gals, How cute is it?!

Weakling for Froyo.

Above is an outfit I wore on a weekend out. It's a very... Sweet Valley Weekend inspired look.
Varsity Jacket from this awesome little rockabilly store called ENZ NYC in St. Marks, Jeans for American Apparel, top and shoes from Forever 21.

So what's new in everyones life? Any fashion trends that you're excited about? Taking any leaps of faith soon?

Hello Nubians,

Early Spring is still so transitional brrrrrr it's still cold! I'll tell you one thing though, when I hear Spring knocking, I automatically want to do all sorts of braids. I NEVER want to braid my hair in the winter for some reason... Is that strange? Anyway, lighter/shorter jackets, different colors, sunglasses, it's good times.

(Wearing Ecko leopard jacket, Zara leggings, Doc Martin boots, Mossimo top)

I've been transitioning in my life a bit too lately... Maybe that's why I haven't been blogging as much the last 2 months or so. I've been working on a lot of social media stuff and even though its fun stuff, I'd be lying if I didn't say my brain is feeling like its starting to fry.

Ever want to NOT turn on your computer at all but still find yourself doing it? Sick I tell ya! Sickkk.
I guess what I'm getting at here is that my inspiration has been sucked a little dry lately... I guess it's like some sort of writers block or motivation block.

A lot has changed for me over the past year. 2012 was kind of crazy and 2013 has been flying by and it freaks me out. I have so much I want to do but those little hands on the clock are KILLER (hate those guys).

(Some fun inspiring thoughts by Jeremyville)

Further more, what else can I say? I'm looking forward to shopping for some spring-like clothing soon. I'm feeling like the 90s with a mix of Harujuku girls this season. Makeup wise I've been using all sorts of color as my under eyeliner (especially green and purple because they make my light browns pop) and lets not forget braids! All types of pretty braids.

I'm on my way to work right now writing this blog entry on the notepad on my iPhone which I will later email to myself and copy and paste on to blogger and BOOM, post! Just passed Lexington ave and heading down to Prince st.

Oh, by the way, Did I mention NubiasNonsense is having a small makeover soon?

Have a nice day ya'll!!

Hey there,

Yesterday I was going through my iPhone trying to delete photos. I haven't gotten around to saving them on my computer and apparently I reached my maximum storage space. I bumped into these photos below and remembered how cute this outfit was... I never got around to posting it.

I have a serious bubble tea problem, Black Tea milk to be exact. I drink one almost EVERY DAY, no lie. If you follow me on Instagram, you would see how often I snap shots of them. Some of my favorite places to get them in NYC is Kung Fu Tea, Ten Ren and Coco.

Most of my outfit was vintage and my oxfords are Dollhouse.

I completely improvised this braid and think it came out looking adorbs. This is a rather dapper look for me don't ya think?

Hope you're all having a great weekend!

Excuse my lack of posting this week dear friends,  These have been crazy, odd, and quite transitional times.

Last weekend I attended Lucky Shops with some fellow bloggers and was part of their Red Carpet team. It was an enjoyable experience. Before Lucky Shops started, we were pampered a bit with some appetizers and champagne at Bloom Beauty Lounge.

The Bloom team was so incredibly nice... ALL OF THEM (which I can't say about too many salons). I had a great experience, they were extremely attentive.

Beauty in the making...

I'd like to give a HUGE shout-out to Jackie Tran (Salon Manager) for making this banging braid below happen! Seriously.

What do you think? I got tons of love on Instagram for this one.

Toodles,
