Bridalplasty WTF?

by - 12:33 PM

Okay.. This is really weird. It's sort of difficult to disturb me. This is why I want to say from the start, I'm not trying to make this a professional article right now or any sort of awesome editorial. I am simply writing down my thoughts on my blog because well.. it is MY BLOG.

WHAT THE F@CK is Bridalplasty? I saw the preview/trailer for it on E yesterday for the first time. I am a fan of the E network and I must say I'm in utter shock. Women competing for tummy tucks, breast implants, face lifts and more. What the hell is going on? and the girls in the house look so nonchalant like this is a normal thing, to be going on national television and saying: I don't think I'm perfect enough for my husband.. I want a new face, breast etc. etc.

I want to set a few things straight before anyone could judge my reaction
1. Your husband would probably not have agreed to marry you if he didn't want to marry you. ALSO if he married you on the conditions that you had to get surgery done, well ummmm... HELLO! KICK HIS ASS TO THE CURB! What kind of weird controlling demented shit is that? Seriously.

2. I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST PLASTIC SURGERY. I'm not writing this trying to say "Oh, well no young women should consider plastic surgery" But however I do believe that E shouldn't be funding these surgery's and making them compete for them. Did they ever consider all the young viewers that would be watching this show? It is E after all, celebrity television. Young people will see this and think it's OK and normal and it's NOT. Women should not be insecure and feel that they need surgery to please a man. It's insecurities that should be helped in another form. You should not be sending out the message : Go ahead and change yourself and geez well, while your at it lets film it and make a show for ratings!

This was not that kind of crap on television when I was growing up and I am GLAD AS HELL IT WASN'T. People get really influenced by this sort of stuff.

So here is the shows description:

"Each week, a group of women competes head-to-head in such challenges as writing wedding vows and planning honeymoons. The winner receives the chance to choose a plastic surgery procedure from her “wish list.” She’s given the procedure immediately, and results are shown at the start of the following week’s episode.
One by one, the women are voted out by their competitors and, according to the show’s description, “possibly walking away with nothing and losing [their] chance to be the perfect bride.”
The last bride standing will receive a “dream wedding,” where she will reveal her new appearance to friends, family and the groom. “Viewers will witness his emotional and possibly shocked reaction as they stand at the altar and he lifts her veil to see her for the first time following her extreme plastic surgery,” E! said.

Losing their chance to be the perfect bride? You've got to be kidding me.

I wonder what would happen if the winner had some sort of complication and died. What sort of statement would be released?

The wowen of the future should be encouraged to be strong and love themselves. Be smart and realize nobody is perfect and you would be surprised at how many people will love what you might think is an imperfection.

I don't think I am anywhere near perfect but I'm not about to go under the knife over it. If these issues keep getting treated in such an apathetic matter people will believe this is well... Normal.

Just to throw a silly and maybe stupid prediction out there... If everyone thinks it's fine to get surgery and look "perfect" than eventually every one will look perfect and the world will be boring and You know what? People will eventually love to find someone who DOESN'T look perfect because they are bored as shit of seeing everyone look the same!

Some people need plastic surgery (due to medical conditions), I'm well aware of that. Like I said before I don't think it's wrong. It should be kept private, you shouldn't make girls compete over it. I mean watch the trailer yourself? Thoughts?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. We can agree to disagree but I will DEFINITELY Boycott this show and I'd hope a lot of you would join.

  1. I hope it get cancels. That's so sick. It's awful to say, well you're not pretty, how about we make you look like a fool and then reward by making you into somebody that you are not. I'll stick to watching TV on Hulu to avoid this program.

  2. You see, I never grew up with these type of shows either... I thought I was the only one in my age group at least, to think that.

A marriage is way different from a wedding, if most put their egos aside and put more thought into an everlasting relationship, rather than some over the top party to impress people they don't like anyway, there wouldnt be so many bitter and angry exes in the world....

Crazyness!! We don't get as many controversial shows like this in the UK. I'm kind of speechless ;)

  4. I wouldn't watch it even if it weren't so disgusting, but I hate the idea. Like you, I know myself to be far from perfect, but that doesn't stop me from loving my body unconditionally and not wanting to change it in ways other than my own will power.

  5. WTF indeed! I used to love E! but the shows are getting even more ridiculous, this one topping it!

I agree 100% with you, if he doesn't like how you look, then see ya! And how the hell did this even get pass the officials...?

  7. WOW! This is ridiculous! The show is basicaly telling these ladies that they are not worth love without these procedures and encouraging dissatisfation with who you were born to be. It's no wonder why so many ppl suffer from borderline personality with shows like this around. My heart goes out to these women on ths show. They just dont realize the mental exhaustion they bring to themselves.

Hopefully this show wont define them but allow the experience to learn something about who they really are/came to be.

  8. Wow I don't own a television so I never heard of this show but this is so sad and the new trend society is moving people towards to be so shallow and vain while spiritually most are dead. I did hear about several women who have gone to jail because of stealing peoples identities and credit cards to pay for plastic surgery.

  9. Hey Nubia!! It was so nice meeting you yesterday! I hope we'll see each other again soon :) As for this show, *shakes head*. Nothing wrong with plastic surgery, but I think it's a personal decision and shouldn't be glamourized on a TV competition show, especially not a wedding show! The wedding circus is getting so out of hand. People put too much importance on the event. There's so much more to a marriage than a wedding. Wish more people would understand that!

  10. dude, TOTALLY,
it is sick and definitely not something that should be promoted! then again, how is this worse than all the other reality tv shows which reward people for being as silly and slutty as possible on national tv?
(i'll exempt guliana and bill...no one's whoring themselves out on that show).
it is really heartbreaking! can we chat about something happier? hope u r well
