Denim Day In Protest Of Sexual Abuse.

Because Everyone Deserves To Be Respected.

I can't think of a better day for Double Denim. Today, April 25th is Denim Day. It's a great day to wear jeans with a purpose, support survivors, and educate yourself and others about sexual assault.

Too many women have been sexually assaulted one way or another and it's very, very far from ok. It is NEVER ok.

This campaign was originally inspired by a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court. A rape conviction was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped her rapist remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. SERIOUSLY? That is a beyond disgusting thing to assume. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. It was a peaceful protest and an inspiring way to support the victim who was probably feeling emotionally dead. Learn more about what inspired Denim Day and how they're making a movement HERE

Enough is enough, it's time to take a stand & put an end to sexual assault, and EDUCATE. On April 25th, denim is "a symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual assault." Remember, I know it's scary, but it can happen to ANYONE.

If you know anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault, please reach out and let them know they're now alone. Please see a list of hotlines you can call for help provided by the National Organization For Women HERE

Let us make a vow to stay strong and look out for one another. No one deserves to have their safety, happiness, or peace of mind ripped away from them.
